Wedding VS Marriage

It is not in the quality of the wedding but it’s in the quality of the marriage. If the quality of a wedding determines the success of any marriage, then the rate of divorce should be lower. Statistics shows us that 6 out of every 10 marriages don’t last beyond 5 years. Why is it that 80% of celebrity/glamorous wedding end up in divorce in less than 4 years.

If you are planning a wedding and you do not put effort into planning the marriage, you just wasted your resources. You spent the money you don’t have to impress the people who don’t care on a wedding that the foundation is weak. If you have the money, spend it, but it will be a disaster to spend all that money on a faulty foundation.

Its often said that people get married for the wrong reasons and the wedding has a lot to do with it. They spend their whole lifetime preparing for the ‘BIG DAY’ but they never think about the day after or the person they have agreed to spend the rest of their lives with.

I encourage young men and women, it’s not how you start that counts, but how you end. How much you spend on your wedding will soon be forgotten because someone will soon break your record, how long and how well your marriage last is what will count. As you prepare to get married, plan, pray, prepare, read books on marriages, attend seminars, have productive couples as mentors, sow seeds into the lives of those who their marriages are working and take worthy counsel.

Marriage is like planting a seed, if you water it and take care of it, you can watch it bloom, but if you expect it to just grow on its own then expect it to die.

At the base of any dysfunctional marriage are dysfunctional children. Most of the young people in jail or reformed homes today are result of failed marriages. Think of your generation yet unborn before you act. Whatever you do today is a seed and you will reap your harvest some day.
